Charlie Brown Actor's Ex Reacts to His Courtroom Outburst: 'He Looked Like an Animal'
Shawn Kern, who dated Peter Robbins for 12 years, told INSIDE EDITION she was shocked by his tirade.
It's hard to believe that an inmate who shouted at a judge is the same guy who voiced everyone's favorite cartoon character -- Charlie Brown.
Peter Robbins’ delivered his profanity-laced tirade came in a San Diego courtroom in June. He told Judge Robert O’Neil: “I hope you drop dead of a heart attack.”
The 59-year-old was there for probation violations after pleading guilty to threatening his former girlfriend, Shawna Kern, and stalking the plastic surgeon who gave her breast implants.
Kern spoke exclusively with INSIDE EDITION and said: “It broke my heart. He looked like an animal.”
Robbins was the sweet faced child actor who voiced the original Peanuts cartoons in the 1960s. His voice was also heard on some of TV’s most endearing holiday classics like It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas.
“Everywhere we went, we were standing in line for Jimmy Kimmel and he's telling everybody down the row: ‘I’m the voice of Charlie Brown,’” she said.
She dated Robbins for 12 years but she says after he paid for her breast implants, he became enraged with the doctor who performed the surgery.
“He went ballistic,” she said.
Kern says Robbins was out of control, high on her prescription painkillers when he picked her up at the surgical center and demanded a refund. Later she says he became violent.
Robbins was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to take drug treatment and domestic violence classes.
“When he does too many drugs and drinks too much, he's a very ugly person,” Kern said.
He was brought back to court for violating probation by cutting off his GPS monitor.
Kern says Robbins' Charlie Brown legacy meant everything to him. Now may be remembered not for voicing the loveable character but for his violent outburst in court.
