Stephen Colbert Challenges Trump to Donate $1 Million to Charity After He Called it a 'Small' Sum
Stephen Colbert is asking Donald Trump to put his money where his mouth is by donating a million dollars to a children's charity.
Stephen Colbert challenged Donald Trump on Wednesday’s Late Show to sign a million-dollar check to Harlem Children’s Zone.
Colbert recounted an interview in which Trump said he had received a “small loan” of a million dollars to begin his empire.
"It has not been easy for me, it has not been easy for me," Trump told Matt Lauer at a New Hampshire town hall earlier this week. "I started off in Brooklyn, my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars."
Colbert took the billionaire to task, saying: "Clearly, this is the inspiring story of a young man who made good. The classic story of riches to richer."
The comedian, who had Trump on his show last month, felt that if a million bucks isn’t a big deal, he should put his money where his mouth is and sign a check for the children of Harlem, New York.
Trump was busy at the GOP debate by the time The Late Show aired and Colbert issued the challenge. No word if “The Donald” will accept the offer.
