A man climbed atop a highway sign in Houston and stopped traffic for an hour while he threatened to jump.
Houston police had to stop vehicles on US 59 and I-45 after the man scaled the sign near downtown on Tuesday night, KHOU reports.
The man reportedly yelled that he want to go back to El Salvador.
According to Chron.com, authorities at the scene scene told him, "If he came down they would take him."
The promise coaxed the man to climb down the steel beams, according to police.
He surrendered and was taken into custody.
The man will likely be given a psychological evaluation, police said.
