Final 'Jeopardy!' Question Stumps All 3 Players Who Wind Up Leaving With Nothing
Tuesday's episode will feature all new players, as the three previous contestants walked away with nothing.
All three contestants on Monday’s episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ were stumped by the show’s final clue, with each player leaving without a penny and leaving the show without a victor.
The unusual three-way loss came after the players were given the clue: “A 1957 event led to the creation of a national history site in this city, signed into law by a president whose library is now there too.”
Not one contestant was able to provide the correct answer of Little Rock, Arkansas, home of the library of President Bill Clinton, who was the commander-in-chief in question.
“We have three players finishing with no money,” host Alex Trebek said after the contestants’ answers flashed on screen.
Returning co-champions Claudia Corriere and Mike Drummond were tied at $13,800 going into the round, while new player Randi Kristensen had $6,000 when she penned her answer.
All three picked different, incorrect cities and bet everything they had, leaving them with no money.
“And what that means, ladies and gentlemen, is tomorrow, we will have no returning champion. We will introduce three new players to Jeopardy! So, sorry folks!” Trebek said.
The game’s unusual outcome last occurred in 2013 during a teen tournament, when all three contestants provided incorrect answers to: “It’s criss-crossed by dozens of “peace walls” that separate its catholic and protestant neighborhoods.”
The three teens all answered “Dublin,” when the correct answer was “Belfast.”
