Tiny Twins Born 11 Weeks Early Hold Hands in Heartwarming Video
A video posted by new mom Anthea Jackson-Rushford to Facebook shows the moment her premie twins held hands while lying on their father.
A video of a pair of premature twins in Australia holding hands while lying on their proud new father is melting hearts around the world.
New mom Anthea Jackson-Rushford posted the video Jan. 13. It shows siblings Kristiana and Kristian clearly holding hands as their father watches in wonder.
In the post, Jackson-Rushford wrote, "Amazing!!! Needs to go viral!!!...our preemie twins Kristiana and Kristian! Born at just 28 weeks and 1 day! Weighed in at under a kilo each!"
A kilo is about 2.2 pounds. Most healthy full-term babies weigh between six and nine pounds.
The Melbourne mom certainly got her wish. After just a week, the video had been viewed nearly 7.5 million times.
"He actually holds her hand!" a voice of the video says of the brother and sister. "How is that possible?"
In the video, the twins are cuddling skin-to-skin with their dad, a technique believed to help boost a premie's health.
The massive popularity of her first video inspired Jackson-Rushford to post some follow-up photos that show the twins continuing to hold hands.
"Both my angels holding hands again as if they were born to! Amazing sight!" she wrote.
