Welcome Home Scott Kelly! Here's What's New on Earth
Ground control to Major Tom, it's time to catch up.
So what's new since he left?
The 52-year-old might have spent the last 12 months floating around ISS, but he shouldn't get too used to solid ground - because the hoverboard is here.
Unfortunately, hoverboards, which flew off the shelves following their launch last year, won’t allow him to levitate the way Marty McFly did, but the popular - and sometimes controversial - vehicle could be an amusing way to get around.
Hopefully, he has better luck than Mike Tyson.
Prior to Kelly launching into space, the cronut was the trendiest food on the menu, but so much has changed in the past 12 months. Now, he is returning to the land of rainbow bagels.
While The Bagel Store - the restaurant behind the psychedelic-looking bagels - is closed for renovations to meet demand, he might find the wait worth it.
And he can wash that rainbow bagel down with a $15 milkshake from Black Tap. In the months before his return to Earth, folks have lined around the block for Chef Joe Isidori’s over-the-top beverages.
The chef, who used to work for Donald Trump, told INSIDE EDITION recently that the popular shakes are even a favorite of the GOP front runner.
“He loves ice cream," he said. "He is Americana. He is American. That is what these milkshakes are. I worked for Donald for a long time and I can tell you, milkshake or not, his favorite flavor is cherry vanilla."
Donald Trump is the GOP Frontrunner
When Kelly launched into space, Jeb Bush looked like a promising GOP candidate. But everything quickly changed in June when Trump announced he was running for office.
After a year of relative seclusion, Kelly might be a little surprised to arrive back to Trump Mania.
Leonardo DiCaprio is an Oscar Winner
When Kelly left Earth a year ago, the actor was merely a four-time Oscar nominee and had never walked away with the award.
But on Sunday, after a fifth nomination, DiCaprio finally won an Oscar for Best Actor in The Revenant.
'Making A Murderer' and Many, Many More
So much happened on television and streaming services since Kelly left. From Netflix’s original series’ Making a Murderer, Daredevil, Jessica Jones to FX’s The People Vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story to Fox’s X-Files reboot – let the binging begin!
The Late Night Landscape
Jon Stewart and David Letterman retired. Trevor Noah now hosts The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert has taken over The Late Show. British comic James Corden took over for Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show.
And while the three funny men joined the long list of late night hosts, a woman has finally entered the fray as Samantha Bee’s new show, Full Frontal airs on TBS.
If Kelly wants to skip the TV, he could try a new music service, Tidal. Before he took to the atmosphere, Spotify and Pandora were the biggest music streaming services. According to reports, Jay Z's service, Tidal, might need a buyer and Samsung is in talks to purchase the company.
Apple also launched Apple Music to get into the streaming business.
Same-Sex Marriage is Legal
When Kelly was last home, same-sex marriage was not legal nationwide. But in June, the Supreme Court rules that state-level bans on same-sex marriage were unconstitutional.

Caitlyn Jenner made major headlines while Kelly was in space. The former Olympian revealed her transition on the cover of Vanity Fair in June and was also named “Woman of the Year” by Glamour magazine.
Virtual Reality Headsets
While he will have seen some pretty incredible views from space, Kelly can now see even more, thanks to virtual reality headsets, which allow users a 360-degree view of an alternate reality. The gadgets let users feel like they're in a music video, audience or video game.
1 World Trade Center
And while he can't get views of Earth like he did from ISS once he's back, he can visit the top of the tallest skyscraper in the Western hemisphere: 1 World Trade Center. The observation deck opened last summer.
