'Dog Whisperer' Cesar Millan is Under Investigation By Animal Control
Viewers complained when a dog attacked a pig on air, drawing blood.
The Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, star of the National Geographic’s "Cesar 911," is known for coming to the rescue for people with dogs that have gone out of control.
But some angry viewers are drawing attention to a specific episode of the show, calling it animal abuse - and now the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is looking into the complaints.
Simon, the French bulldog and Terrier mix that appeared in a clip "Cesar 911" has a history of attacking other animals, which is exactly what he was shown doing on the show. The dog was shown bloodying the ear of this frightened swine, and some viewers are outraged.
“It made me sick to my stomach,” Laura Nativo told INSIDE EDITION. She is an animal rights activist who signed an online petition, along with over 9,000 others who are trying to put an end to the dog whisperer’s show.
“When you take a dog with a bite history and you unleash it to a pen of pigs, you have to know something is going to happen,” Nativo said.
A post made on Cesar Millan’s website about the episode wrote: “The pig that was nipped by Simon was tended to immediately afterward, healed quickly and showed no lasting signs of distress.”
According to the website, the episode was not posted in full and therefore viewers might have taken the scene out of context. It was also not shown that the animals were in a controlled environment.
“Cesar and his animal pack effectively helped Simon to overcome his aggressive behavior toward other animals; as a result, Simon did not have to be separated from his owner or euthanized,” the website wrote.
