American Hero Awarded Medal of Honor

The highest military honor is bestowed on Army Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta by President Obama for his bravery in Afghanistan. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Army Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta is awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration, by his Commander in Chief.
An amazing video shows how fierce the combat was when Giunta staged his rescue.
The footage, part of a National Geographic documentary was shot during Operation Rock Avalanche, when Giunta went to the rescue of a wounded sergeant who was being carried off by two Taliban.
"Sal never broke stride. He went forward, took aim. He killed one of the insurgents while the other ran off" said President Obama during the ceremony.
The soldier died of his wounds later than day, but his spirit hovered over the ceremony to honor Sgt. Giunta.
25-year-old Giunta joins icons like Audie Murphy, the most highly decorated soldier of World War II. Or World War I Sergeant York, played by Gary Cooper in the Classic Movie, To Hell and Back.
Like those two legendary Medal of Honor heroes, Giunta is impressing everyone with not only his bravery under fire, but also his modesty.
"He is a low key guy, a humble guy," President Obama said.
Humble perhaps but heroic without a doubt.
