Horrifying Moment Rat Crawls All Over Man Asleep on New York City Subway

While rats are a common sight on subway platforms in New York, they're rarely seen inside an actual car.

A man asleep in a New York subway car recently got a rude awakening in the form of a very large rat.

It was around 3 a.m. Sunday morning when Antony Lin, 31, said he awoke after a brief snooze while making his way home.

That's when he noticed the rat scurrying around the subway car.

Lin said a couple spotted the rat first before making their way to another car. As Lin watched--and took out his phone to document the creepy incident on video--he said the rat made its way right toward the guy.

"He shook the rat off and ran screaming to the next car," said Lin, whose video quickly stops rolling as the man's screams are heard.

As a native of Queens, Lin is no stranger to vermin, but said the Sunday morning encounter was definitely out of the ordinary.

"I'm used to seeing rats, but never on the train," Lin told InsideEdition.com.

Lin said he's caught some heat since posting his video to Instagram from people who say he should have helped the man.

However, the New Yorker said it was too hard to predict how a stranger might react to being roused on the subway so late at night.

"I didn't want to pay the price of waking up anyone at 3 a.m.," he said.

As for the rat, Lin said it moved on to some late night sight-seeing.

"The rat just got off at the next stop," he said. "Times Square."
