Trump got the ring at Harry Winston Jewelers on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Reports at the time said that Trump paid about $250,000 for the ring.

He bought the ring even though he was supposed to be living under a strict budget, which had been set by his creditors because his business was in trouble. He was reportedly $800 million in debt.

The creditors raised a stink, but Trump negotiated his way out of the jam and the ring remained on his bride-to-be’s finger.

Maples married Trump in 1993 in a lavish Plaza Hotel ceremony attended by rich and famous friends including Rosie O'Donnell and O.J. Simpson. They had a daughter together, Tiffany, now 22.

Simpson told cameras back then: "If everybody in the country believes maybe their relationship can work if this relationship can work."

Six months later, Simpson was arrested for the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. In 1995 he was acquitted for the murders in what was called "The Trial of the Century."

The marriage lasted just six years and in 2000, the single mom put the ring up for sale at an auction house in Detroit.

When Maples sold it at auction, it went for just $125,000.

IE spoke to Maples about the ring on Monday night backstage at Dancing with the Stars.

“I did put it up for auction and part of it went to a good cause,” she said. “I met Donald when I was 20. Younger than my daughter is today.”
