Buon Appetito! The World's Largest Pizza Makes History by Stretching More Than a Mile
Get hungry, and get to Italy - the world's largest pizza has been made.
When Dean Martin sang, "when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore," he probably didn’t envision a pie like this.
One hundred chefs in Naples, Italy, came together to set the record for the longest pizza in the world.
The pizza, according to Guinness World Records, set a new record by stretching more than a mile.

The pizza was displayed on the majestic Naples waterfront Wednesday. It took 11 hours to make.
According to Guinness, “2,000 kg of flour, 1,600 kg of tomatoes, 2,000 kg of 'fiordilatte' cheese, 200 litres of olive oil, all from strictly local suppliers, was the recipe for success.”
Five wood-fired portable ovens were created for the special event.

The ovens were placed over the pizza, which laid on a series of tables, and moved like an assembly line to cook the pie.

The event was organized by local chef Alessandro Marinacci from Naples’ Pizza Village. He told Italian newspaper The Local that the event was “absolutely a point of pride for our city, which is the home of pizza.
Marinacci was out to break last year’s longest pizza record, which was set in Milan and stretched 1,595 meters.
No word on how the pizza tasted, but it is safe to say their mothers would approve.
