Video Allegedly Shows Miley Cyrus Smoking Salvia from a Bong
A new video posted on the internet appears to show teen star Miley Cyrus smoking the legal natural herb salvia out of a bong. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Miley Cyrus, caught smoking out of a bong!
In a disturbing new video sweeping the internet, the teen queen looked disoriented and couldn't stop giggling after allegedly inhaling a powerful hallucinogenic called salvia.
Cyrus was partying with several friends at her home in Toluca Lake, California five days after her 18th birthday. In the video, she can be seen smoking from a bong, and then telling her friends, "Okay, I'm about to lose it." She later says, "I'm having a little bit of a bad trip."
Videos posted on YouTube show other young people experimenting with salvia. One video shows a girl giggling uncontrollably after smoking the herb, while another shows a guy breaking into hysterics, then moments later looking totally dazed and confused.
One guy says he had delusions after using salvia and another seems to have no idea where he is or what he's doing
"This drug is dangerous. you lose control over your body, you start to hallucinate, you see things that aren't there," says addiction specialist Dr. Howard Samuels.
In 2007 INSIDE EDITION reported on the growing trend of young people using salvia for a quick high. Believe it or not, despite its sometimes dangerous side effects, salvia is totally legal in most states, including California, where Cyrus reportedly smoked it.
"She has taken on the mantle of being a role model for our nation's youth, I mean I think it's horrific that she is engaging in this," says Dr. Samuels.
INSIDE EDITION producers easily bought a bag of the drug at in a New York City shop for just $20.
The salvia scandal is the latest trouble for the once squeaky-clean Disney star.
Cyrus is coping with the recent split of her parents after a 17-year marriage. And last month a scantily clad Cyrus was spotted making out during her 18th birthday party. She also famously raised eyebrows in 2008 with a provocative pose on the cover of Vanity Fair.
Now, once again, there is concern that the young star is growing up way too fast.
