Woman Plows Into Lover With Her Car After Learning He Is HIV-Positive: Cops
The woman said her lover laughed at her for becoming upset.
An Arizona woman deliberately plowed her car into her bicycle-riding boyfriend after discovering he had HIV, police said.
A neighbor’s surveillance camera captured Misty Lee Wilke’s red Mustang slamming into the man, who is seen bouncing off the hood, over the roof and flipping several times before landing face down on the pavement, authorities said.
In the video, the man appears to lie motionless for several minutes before getting to his feet and taking off running, only to stumble and fall to the ground.
The man, who was not identified, suffered head trauma and a broken vetebrae, according to the smoking gun website.
Thirty minutes later, Wilke called police from her home and said she had not meant to hit the man head-on, according to a probable cause affidavit published Wednesday on the site.
Wilke said the two had argued in a park after she learned he was HIV-positive and that he laughed at her when she became upset. She said she shoved him and he pulled a pocket knife on her, according the police document.
She was angry when she drove out of the park at a high rate of speed, she said, and didn’t realize she had hit someone until he bounced off her car, the affidavit said.
Wilke, 44, has been jailed since her April 29 arrest and faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It was not clear whether she had entered a plea.
