Ex Amish Couple 'Gifted' Teen Daughter to Man Found Living With 12 Girls in His Home: Cops
A Lancaster County, Pennsylvania couple has been arrested after cops say they gave their daughter to a man who impregnated her at age 14.
A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after authorities say they found 12 girls living in his home, including a teen whose parents have reportedly admitted they gave away as a gift.
Lee Kaplan, 51, was arrested Thursday in Bucks County, where authorities say he had girls ranging in age from 6 months to 18-years-old living in his home.
Kaplan reportedly considered the 18-year-old to be his wife, with whom he'd allegedly fathered the 6-month-old as well as a 3-year-old.
Authorities say the 18-year-old's parents--Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus from Lancaster County--have admitted they gave the girl to Kaplan in thanks for helping them out of financial ruin.
The couple allegedly told investigators they researched the legality of such a transaction over the internet before handing over the girl.
Bucks County DA David Heckler told Philly.com the couple also admit all the children in the home are also their, except the two youngest.
The parents told investigators they were aware their daughter was having sex with Kaplan and that she conceived for the first time at age 14, according to reports.
It remained unclear in the hours after news of the bizarre arrest broke how or why the other children were in Kaplan's care. Also unknown is how long the children lived with Kaplan.
All of the children have been removed from the home, however, and are now in custody of the state.
Kaplan remains held on charges of Statutory Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Corruption of a Minor and Unlawful Endangerment.
Daniel Stoltzfus faces charges of Conspiracy, Statutory Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of Children. Savilla Stoltzfus is charged with Endangering the Welfare of Children.
