Gabby Giffords Inspires DNC Crowd: Speaking Is Difficult but in January I Want to Say 'Madam President'
The former Arizona congresswoman came out to support Hillary Clinton and push for stricter gun laws.
Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords inspired the DNC crowd in Philadelphia Wednesday as she threw her support behind Hillary Clinton and pushed for gun control.

Giffords, a victim of gun violence, walked to the podium inside the Wells Fargo Center unattended after her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, introduced her.
“Speaking is difficult for me. But come January, I want to say these two words: ‘Madam President,’” she declared.
Giffords, who was shot in the head five years ago outside a grocery store in an assassination attempt, sustained a severe brain injury. Six people — including a federal judge and a 9-year-old girl — were killed.

The gun control advocate, told the crowd: “Hillary is tough. Hillary is courageous. She will fight to make our families safer. In the White House, she will stand up to the gun lobby.”
Her speech Wednesday echoed the sentiments made Tuesday by the “Mothers of the Movement,” an organization of women who lost children to gun or police violence.
