Donald Trump campaigned for black votes at a Cleveland church Wednesday and was introduced by notorious ex-boxing promoter Don King in a very controversial manner.

King, a friend of Trump, said at the New Spirit Revival Center, apparently accidentally: “If you are a talented intellectual, you are an intellectual negro. If you are a dancing and sliding and gliding n****, I mean negro.”

As the audience laughed, Trump smiled the whole time as King let the word fly.

When Trump got up to speak, he thanked King for the introduction.

“Don, that was so special,” Trump said, calling King, who was pardoned in 1983 for a 1966 manslaughter conviction, “an amazing guy."

King and Trump have a relationship that goes back decades. At many of Trump’s hotels in Atlantic City, King would promote bouts taking place at the venues.

In a 2015 interview with The New York Times, King called Trump, “a counterpuncher," adding: "You throw a punch at him, he’s going to throw one back."

He officially endorsed Trump in June, where the GOP presidential candidate was thrilled for the praise.

At Wednesday’s rally, King said: “We need Donald Trump, especially black people.”

One of King's former boxers, Mike Tyson, has also endorsed Trump to be president.
