Man Grabs His Drugs - but Leaves Baby and Dogs Behind - as House Burns: Cops
Steven Brown, 24, allegedly set off an explosion while attempting to make so-called marijuana wax. He then fled without a 1-year-old.
A Florida man faces multiple felony charges after cops say he and accomplices sparked an explosion in his home while trying to manufacture drugs, then fled with the contraband, leaving a 1-year-old boy and two caged dogs behind.
Steven Brown and others were attempting to make a potent form of marijuana called butane hash oil on September 3 when the dangerous process cause an explosion, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

In the ensuing fire that burned his house down, Brown made the decision to grab his drugs and get out of the house — instead of trying to save two caged dogs that perished in the fire.
Cops say there was also a 1-year-old baby in the house at the time, who was not injured.
Brown turned himself in to investigators on Monday. At the time, he had 12 active warrants for his arrest, which include possession of a place for purposes of manufacturing a controlled substance, arson in the first degree, felonious possession of a firearm, possession of cocaine, possession of suboxone, possession of oxycodone, tampering with physical evidence, manufacture of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, aggravated cruelty to animals (two counts) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officials said they are still in search of additional accomplices. The exact number of co-conspirators is still under investigation.
Photos taken by sheriff's office officials show the Port Richey house totally gutted by fire.
Among the photos was one that appeared to be of a nursery, inside of which was a crib and scorched walls.
Pasco County Sheriff's Office officials have not released information on the child because this could still become a child abuse/neglect case.
