Melania Trump Makes First Stump Speech Since Disastrous RNC Remarks
Her last public speech was found to be lifted from Michelle Obama.
Melania Trump has made her first speech on the campaign trail with just five days to go before Election Day in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania.
Trump’s third wife spoke at a campaign event in Berwyn, just outside Philadelphia.
Addressing the crowd, she said called the Trump campaign "a movement in which people are feeling inspired.
"Do we want a president who is beholden to no one but you, the American people?"
She spoke about her experience as an immigrant building a new life in the United States and what she would do as first lady.
"We need to teach our youth American values — kindness, honesty, compassion," she said.
It was her first campaign speech since that ill-fated address at the Republican National Convention, which turned out to be partially plagiarized from a Michelle Obama speech at the DNC eight years earlier.
As Melania spoke, many speculate her husband and his family could be launching a news network. A casting call is being held in New York the night before the election for an as-yet unnamed news network.
Candidates must be "knowledgeable about conservative viewpoints,” "look upscale and intelligent" and be "outspoken and energetic."
The casting call does not specify an employer but according to Fox News, programming will be streamed online. The Trump campaign has already dabbled in online programming with nightly Facebook Live shows.
In October, there was speculation that Trump plans to launch his own TV network should he lose the election. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has reportedly met with potential investors.
Trump has dismissed the idea, telling The Washington Post in October: “I want to win the presidency and I want to make America great again. It's very simple. I have no interest in a media company."
