Dad Wakes Up in Home to Find Stranger Trying to Kidnap His Baby: Cops
The suspect admitted he was trying to kidnap the baby, police said.
Bradley Hill, 20, allegedly got into the home through an unlocked door, police said.
"The father had been awakened by noises. He goes to [investigate] the noises, thinking that a raccoon or a cat or something has gotten into his house," said Kiefer Police Chief Johnny O'Mara.
Officers said that’s when the father caught Hill standing over his child. He grabbed Hill into a bear hug before dragging him out of the room.
He restrained the intruder while the baby's mother called 911, police said.
Police said Hill later admitted that he did want to kidnap the baby but he had the wrong house and baby.
They also said he was highly intoxicated.
"He believed that he was at somebody else's house and he had intended to take another person’s child and coincidence led to a different child being at this residence and he was going to take that child until the father came in and he realized this is not the father of the child that I'm wanting to take," O'Mara said.
Hill is facing two counts of burglary and attempted kidnapping.
