World's Oldest Living Person Turns 117, Credits Being Single
Emma Morano of Italy, the world's oldest living person, marked her 117th birthday on Tuesday, blowing out all the candles on her cake.
The world's oldest living human being just turned 117.
Emma Morano was surrounded by friends and neighbors at her home in the town of Verbania, Italy, when she blew out all her candles Tuesday.

Thankfully, there were only three.
Morano has the unbelievable distinction of having been born even before the turn of the 20th century and was alive during both world wars.
She's outlived all eight of her siblings and credits her longevity, at least in part, to having been single since the 1930s when she tells Reuters she separated from her abusive husband, becoming among the first in Italy to ever do so.
Morano's doctor, Carlo Bava, believes the uniformity of her diet also might play a part. Part of that diet is two raw eggs per day.
"When I first knew her she used to eat three eggs a day. Two raw, and one fried. Today she has slowed down a bit, reducing the number to two some days because she says three can be too much," Bava said.
For such an historic day, though, Morano allowed her diet to stray ever so slightly.
On Tuesday her guests, Dr. Bava among them, presented Morano with a big cake with strawberries and adorned with a "117."
