Mel Gibson To Take Plea Bargain Avoiding Jail Time
Mel Gibson has reportedly reached a plea deal in which he will not go to jail for the attack against ex-lover Oksana Grigorieva. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Good news for Mel Gibson: he won't be going to jail. The troubled star has cut a deal with prosecutors for that notorious attack against ex-lover Oksana Grigorieva.
Gibson is expected to appear at the Los Angeles County Courthouse this Friday. INSIDE EDITION has learned he'll plead no contest to simple battery. This will bring to a close one of the most memorable and dramatic Hollywood scandals in recent memory.
There were threatening phone calls, alleged assault that Grigorieva claimed left her with broken teeth, and put their baby daughter in danger. It was the stunning details that kept the whole country watching and listening.
In a statement, Gibson's lawyer, Blair Berk, confirmed the plea bargain.
"Mel's priority throughout all of this has been that the best interests of his young daughter Lucia and the rest of his children be put first in any decisions made. It is with only that in mind that he asked me to approach the District Attorney with a proposal that would bring all of this to an immediate end," Berk said.
Gibson will be ordered to attend counseling but he'll remain a free man.
