Boy, 5, Gives Dead Fish a Tearful Goodbye as He Flushes It Down the Toilet
Cupid, a blue betta fish, was a Christmas present from Santa Claus, but on unlucky Friday the 13th, 5-year-old Pierce accidentally gave it too much food.
No matter how big or small, the death of a pet is always traumatic.

Just ask 5-year-old Pierce Griffin, of Augusta, Georgia, who could be seen in a viral video giving his dead fish a tearful send off as he and his mom flushed it down the toilet.
His mom, Dee Griffin, told InsideEdition.com that the fish, who Pierce named Cupid, was a Christmas present from Santa Claus.
But, on unlucky Friday the 13th, Pierce accidentally gave Cupid too much food.
"The next day, he walked past the bowl and he didn't say anything," Griffin said. "I look and it's dead."
Although she originally considered swapping out the beloved pet before her son noticed, she eventually decided to break the bad news.
"I said, 'I have to tell you something,'" she said, "and he starts crying."
The boy then ran to the bathroom and locked the door when his mom suggested they flush it. He could even be seen in the video posted to Facebook blocking the path to the toilet, sobbing. "Unless we get another one, I don't want to."

Luckily, Griffin said they plan to go to the pet store this weekend to pick up Cupid's replacement.
"We'll see how long it lasts," Griffin joked. "Someone said get two [fish] and I said no. I don't think the drain system could handle two bodies."
