Donald Trump Calls Barron 'a Great Boy,' Slams 'SNL' Writer Who Poked Fun at Him
He also called the show a 'disaster.'
President Donald Trump is blasting the Saturday Night Live writer who tweeted out a tasteless joke about his 10-year-old son Barron.
Trump told Sean Hannity Thursday: "It's a disgrace. He's a great boy. And it's not an easy thing for me. Believe me."
SNL writer Katie Rich deleted the tweet and apologized. She's on indefinite suspension from the show.
But in a White House interview with Hannity, Trump didn't stop with her, continuing to lambast the long-running NBC sketch comedy program, as well as the actor portraying the president.
He said: “Well, Saturday Night Live — a person from Saturday Night Live was terrible. It's a failing show. It's not funny. Alec Baldwin's a disaster. He's terrible on the show and, by the way, I don't mind some humor but it's terrible... for them to attack, for NBC to attack my 10-year-old son.
The president also trashed Madonna for that explosive remark at the Women's March on Washington where she said that she "wants to blow up the White House." She later said her comment was taken out of context and was “metaphor.”
"Honestly, she's disgusting. I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt that whole cause. I thought her and a couple of others. But I thought she was in particular, I thought what she said was disgraceful to our country," he said.
The billionaire also defended his decision for the controversial wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"The wall is necessary," Trump said. "That’s not just politics, and yet it is good for the heart of the nation because people want protection and a wall protects. All you’ve got to do is ask Israel."
On Thursday, Trump took his first flight on Air Force One to a Republican Congressional retreat in Philadelphia and invited reporters on board.
He was asked what he thought of the aircraft and said it was “beautiful. Great plane.”
