Naked Pastor Flees Home After He's Caught in Adulterous Tryst by Woman's Husband: Cops
A woman's husband found her in bed with Pastor O. Jermaine Simmons in the middle of the afternoon on January 17
A married Florida pastor was forced to flee in the nude after the husband of a woman he was having sex with walked in on their tryst, according to a police report.
Tallahassee police say Pastor O. Jermaine Simmons was caught in the act on the afternoon of January 17. The woman then called cops over fears her husband would kill Simmons, who'd hidden behind a nearby fence.
According to the police report obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat, the husband allegedly took possession of the pastor’s clothes, wallet and car keys and held them until police negotiated their return.
Meanwhile, in what appears to be Simmons' subsequent Sunday sermon on January 22, the pastor asked his flock for forgiveness.
"I’m hurting because I’ve hurt you," Simmons said in the video, which was uploaded to YouTube. “I can’t speak to people on the outside. I am not Tallahassee’s pastor. I am not Florida’s pastor. I am Jacob Chapel’s pastor. It hurts me that you have to defend my actions. You cannot defend sin."
Simmons also appeared to reference his wife and the mother of his child in the sermon. "I was reminded that I can't run through this. And I got somebody who said, and I believe her, that she's gonna walk with me," he said.
The woman police say he was having sex with also has a child and was reportedly missing calls for her to pick the 6-year-old from school while hosting Simmons.
The school then called the boy's father, police said, which is what led him back to their home, where authorities say he found his wife and their pastor in their daughter's bedroom.
Despite the embarrassing episode, which came the same week the congregation was celebrating 11 years with Simmons at the helm, the pastor signaled he has no intention to resign.
"If I stop preaching, if I stop doing what the Lord called me to do over this, it presupposes that I was qualified to do it in the first place," he told the congregation. "If I quit, if I walk away over this, it presupposes that I deserved to preach last Sunday when there was no scandal... I'm a work in progress now but what the Lord allows. We will move forward."
