Caroline Kennedy is back in the U.S. after three years as ambassador to Japan, and a run for public office may be in her future.

Her first stop since returning was an appearance on the Today show Friday, when she was asked about rumors that she would run for a seat in the New York Senate.
"Do you have aspirations for elected office?” host Matt Lauer asked her.
“I've just gotten home a week or so,” she said. “I'm looking around to figure out what I would do next.”
Pushing for a clearer answer, Lauer asked: “But wouldn't rule it out?”
“I think I would like to be on morning TV,” she said.

The daughter of JFK also touched on what President Trump has done in his first two weeks in office, saying she is troubled by his foreign policy approach.
"To be taken for granted, or to be insulted as an ally who has fought alongside the United States for example, with Australia, or who contributes a huge amount to American security, in the case of Japan and Korea, is alarming and I think that, hopefully, the president will realize the benefits of working with our friends and allies around the region," Kennedy said.
