Actress Emma Thompson Reveals Donald Trump Once Asked Her Out On A Date
She left him hanging.
Actress Emma Thompson has revealed she once had a very high profile suitor: None other than Donald J. Trump.
The Oscar-winning leading lady, 57, told a Swedish television program that the future commander-in-chief wanted to take her on a date back in 1998.
As her story goes, Thompson was filming the film Primary Colors in Hollywood about the Bill Clinton campaign when her phone rang in her movie set trailer.
"Hi, it’s Donald Trump here," the actress recalled hearing to her complete befuddlement.
"Really? Well, can I help you?" she replied.
"Yeah, I wonder if I could offer you some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers. They’re really comfortable," she remembers him saying.
"And I said, 'Why are you offering me somewhere to stay, in my trailer?'" Thompson told her interviewer.
Thompson said Trump then told her "I think we would get on very well, maybe we could have dinner sometime."
The actress said she told the hotelier she'd get back to him, but she never did.
So now that he's the most powerful man in the world, does Thompson regret the date that never was?
Yes, actually, but not for the reason you might think.
"I wish I had," she joked. "Think of the stories!"
