INSIDE EDITION surprises one American family with news that they are related to none other than the world's next princess, Kate Middleton.
A world away from the hustle and bustle of Buckingham Palace, in a quiet community in Connecticut, INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney tells an American family that they are related to British royalty.
Suzanna Salk is an interior decorator and married mother of two. She thought INSIDE EDITION was shooting a story about home decor. She had no idea that she is related to Kate Middleton.
When her family gathered together McInerney revealed the news that Suzanna is related to the future Princess Kate.
The family reacted with amazement.
Scott Stewart is with the New England Historical Genealogical Society and had the proof that they were related. He prepared an ancestral chart dating from 1480 proving that Suzanna is Middleton's 15th cousin once removed.
Sir William Gascoigne and Lady Margaret Percy are common ancestors. Suzanna descended from Dorothy Gascoigne and Middleton is descended from her sister Agnes.
And like the rest of the world, Suzanna will be watching the royal wedding April 29th.
"I might actually put on some makeup and really get dressed for this, this is my cousin after all who's getting married," said Suzanna.
"So what would you like to say to your new royal relatives?" McInerney asked.
"Welcome to the family!" Suzanna replied.
