Sean Spicer in the Hot Seat as Trump Fumes Over Comey Backlash: Report
Spicer missed Wednesday's White House press briefing; the stated reason is because he is on naval reserve duty.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer may be the next to hear Donald Trump’s trademark phrase, “You’re fired.”
Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been front and center dealing with the backlash after James Comey was abruptly booted as FBI director Tuesday.
Huckabee Sanders conducted the daily White House press briefing in Spicer's place Wednesday. The stated reason for his absence was naval reserve duty.
Spicer appeared on Lou Dobbs Tonight Tuesday to address Comey's firing. But later, he was seen hiding near bushes at the White House before emerging to answer questions in the dark while refusing to appear on camera, The Washington Post reported.
“This is probably the most egregious example of press and communications incompetence since we’ve been here,” one West Wing official told the paper. “It was an absolute disaster. And the president watched it unfold firsthand. He could see it.”
Multiple outlets are now reporting that Trump is looking to send Spicer packing.
To add insult to injury, Melissa McCarthy is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend and the promos for the episode already show the comedian teasing her now-famous Spicer impression.
