Tourist Catches Toddler After Hotel Balcony Fall

INSIDE EDITION has the amazing story of a tourist who caught a toddler when she fell four floors from a hotel balcony.
It was a true miracle. A 16-month-old toddler slipped through the railings lining the walkway of an Econo Lodge hotel in Orlando, and was hanging on for dear life.
Luckily for Jah-Nea Myles, English tourist Helen Beard happened to be right there to catch her!
Someone at the motel called 911 to report the startling news about the baby who fell into a woman's arms.
911 Operator: "A baby fell off the balcony?"
Caller: "Yes."
911 Operator: "Is she completely alert?"
Caller: "Yes, she's fine. A lady has her in her arms."
Beard, who was in Orlando visiting Disney World, was given a special award for heroism Friday from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
"It was a very surreal event that happened. I managed to run over and catch Jah-Nea as she lost her grip. It all happened so quickly," said Beard at a press conference.
Hotel balconies and children can be a dangerous combination.
In June 2010, 4-year-old Joey Williams fell 80 feet from a hotel balcony in Miami, and was not hurt. His grandfather showed INSIDE EDITION how it happened.
"Joey put his foot here [on the edge of the railing], and picked himself up and over," said Joey's grandfather.
But a palm tree broke Joey's fall, and then he bounced onto some bushes before landing on a patch of dirt, narrowly missing some sprinklers. He wore a neck brace after the fall only as a precaution.
"It went from a tragedy to a miracle," said Joey's grandfather.
And now, another balcony miracle.
