Two Children's Hospital Therapy Dogs Tie The Knot In 'Pawsome' Wedding Ceremony
They pledged their puppy love fur-ever.
Hope and Hunter, two dogs that help spread love and comfort to patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, have tied the knot.
In what hospital staff called a “pawsome” ceremony, the pair, both golden retrievers, got hitched in Lisa Barth Chapel on Thursday.
“Hope has always been Hunter’s girlfriend, so it only made sense that they should ‘marry,’” said Missy Stover, Child Life Volunteer and Therapeutic Programs Manager.
Hope wore a white wedding dress and veil and Hunter wore a tuxedo collar to the affair.
With several children patients looking on, the hospital's director of public relations, Jake Jacobson, performed the ceremony for the pups.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate Hope and Hunter,” Jacobson said during the ceremony. “Before these witnesses, Hunter takes Hope to be his lawfully wedded doggie bride; they bow-vow to love each other, share their banana and peanut butter together, today, tomorrow and forever.”
During the exchange of collars, Aimee Hoflander, Hunter’s primary handler, and Allison Bowring, Hope’s primary handler, who doubled as matrons of honor said “I do,” on behalf of their respective pups.

Hunter actually kissed the bride afterwards.
During the reception, patients received "doggie bags" and Hope and Hunter enjoyed a doggie wedding cake.
