Man Dressed as Tin Man From 'Wizard of Oz' Charged With Drunk Driving
If he only had an Uber.
A New Yorker dressed as the "Tin Man" from the The Wizard of Oz may have wished he could click his heels three times to get out of this one, a drunk driving arrest.
Prior to his arrest Sunday, Nicholas Sherman, 31, had reportedly appeared at the annual “Oz-Stravaganza” in Chittenango, where he had been hired by a business to play the character.
Chittenango, the birthplace of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum, holds the three-day festival each year.
Sherman’s outfit was part of a costume contest where local businesses compete against each other.
After leaving the festival, Sherman allegedly drove to an unidentified man’s home while drunk and was asked to leave.
When he did not, the man called police, according to reports.
Sherman's blood alcohol content was 0.19 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit, according to police.
He was charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated driving while intoxicated.
