Cop Gives Bride a Ride on Her Wedding Day After Limo Breaks Down: 'I Had to Laugh'
She received an unexpected police escort.
Kelly Bushey Walker wasn’t expecting to show up to her South Carolina wedding in a police car, but after her limo broke down, that’s exactly what she did.
Walker said she and members of her bridal party were on the way to the ceremony in their rented limo, but the windows and air conditioning were broken.
“My worry then turned into fear when our limo broke down on the side of the road, 30 minutes away from the chapel,” Walker said.
Walker feared she would have to get on another bus with some of her wedding guests, who would see her before she walked down the aisle.
“[He asked if] we were okay and wanted to know what was going on,” Walker told InsideEdition.com. “We asked him if he could drive me so that none of my guests would see me before getting to the chapel.”
Deputy Taylor East, of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, agreed and thankfully the bride made it to the nuptials with 10 minutes to spare.
“Deputy East made me feel at ease and assured me I would make it to my wedding," Walker said. "I forgot all of my worries once I was in his car. My sister and maid of honor also came along for the ride."
Walker said that although she is someone who likes to plan, the day ended up perfect anyhow.
“I had to laugh — I honestly couldn't believe it was happening," Walker said. "[Deputy East] saved the day and gave us a memory that we will tell for years to come.
"My wedding day was the best day of my life, even with the ups and downs. I couldn't have had more fun.”
