'Dangerous Beyond Belief' Escaped Inmates Captured in Tennessee

Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, overpowered and disarmed two guards Monday and killed them.

A massive manhunt for two escaped inmates ended Thursday night when the "dangerous beyond belief" fugitives were captured in Tennessee, authorities said.

Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky DuBose, 24, were caught after leading officers on a chase in Murfreesboro.

The intense search for Rowe and Dubose began Tuesday after guards Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue, both officers at Baldwin State Prison, were shot to death during the inmates' escape.

Earlier Thursday, the two were believed to have tied up a couple in Shelbyville and stole a Jeep and firearms, WSMV-TV reported.  The Jeep was the third vehicle they are alleged to have stolen since escaping on Tuesday.

A hefty reward had been offered for information leading to the arrest of the prison-breaking duo who fled custody after the two Georgia prison guards were overpowered and murdered.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills had announced Thursday the reward had been upped to $130,000.

Family members had also come forward, begging the men to give up.

"I am begging you, baby, to please turn yourself in," Brenda Tarver, a relative of Dubose's by marriage, told WGCL. "We don’t want anything bad to happen to you. I talked to your daddy last night (Tuesday), your daddy says to tell you to turn yourself in. Please, before this ends badly."

Dubose's father also reached out.

"He needs to stop [running]," said Rocky Dubose told the Atlanta CBS affiliate from his home in Texas. "Ricky, please stop man. Brother, they gonna kill you, if you don’t give yourself up. I promise you."

Federal, state and local authorities worked to find the pair, who investigators believed were driving a white pickup truck  early Thursday that was stolen from an industrial site 25 miles from where they first fled custody.

It was near there where Sheriff Sills said the men ransacked a house in Madison near where they dumped a green Honda they allegedly carjacked after first fleeing custody.

"They are dangerous beyond description," Sheriff Sills said earlier this week.

Both men were serving lengthy sentences for armed robbery and other crimes.
