Wife Fleeing Abusive Husband Accidentally Fatally Runs Him Over With Truck: Cops

The woman got inside an idling box truck and fled her husband before accidentally running him over, cops said.
A Louisiana woman, who cops say was attempting to flee from her abusive husband, accidentally ran him over with a truck, killing him.
Baton Rouge Police Sgt. L'Jean McKneely told WAFB that the woman was with her husband at an area gas station after he'd been involved in a prior altercation there.

"A lady and her husband drove up to the gas station, apparently looking at some video of a fight he was involved in earlier that night. After the fight happened, he and her went home and he beat her and he beat her bad. They came back out here to the gas station to look at the video," said McKneely.
Cops say the husband was angry that his wife hadn't done more to help during the fight.
But upon their return to the gas station, police said the wife approached a man refueling his truck to ask for help while her husband was inside.
"In the course of that, the husband came outside and she panicked. She got into the box truck and sped away,” McKneely told the CBS affiliate.
As the woman sped toward the headquarters of the Baton Rouge Police Department, the husband reportedly followed in hot pursuit and was at some point able to exit the vehicle and climb onto the box truck to get to his wife.
According to reports, the wife slowed to gain the attention of an officer who was conducting a traffic stop nearby and then her husband fell off.
He was then run over by the truck.
While still struggling to make sense of what happened, the woman spoke to WAFB about her scarring experience.
"I never seen my husband like that," she said. "The way he just kicked me in my head like I was just a piece of trash."
The husband was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The wife has also been treated for injuries she sustained from the abuse. Police do not expect any criminal charges to be filed in the case.
