The Gilliam family watched from inside their home in Asheville, and could not believe their eyes.
The video of Monday’s incident was filmed by 15-year-old Ethan Gilliam as he hung out with his 10-year-old brother.
"I was in awe. We have seen them go through the trash before but it was pretty crazy to see it open the door and get in. I was scared it was going to ruin the car," Ethan told Inside Edition.
Apparently unable to drive away, the bear eventually got out and wandered off.
