Kim Jong Un's Aunt, Who Defected to U.S. in 1998, Afraid to Show Her Face
She's the ruthless dictator's little-known link to America.
Kim Jong Un's aunt, who defected from North Korea in 1998, is living in the U.S., where she's afraid to show her face.
She lives under an assumed name not far from New York City and owns a dry-cleaning store with her husband.
Recent photographs show her with her husband in Times Square and in Central Park — but with her back turned to the camera.
In an interview with The Washington Post last year, the aunt says that when her nephew was just 8, he was given a general's uniform. Actual Army brass have had to bow to him ever since.
She added that he was "obsessed with basketball," which led him to his present-day fondness for Dennis Rodman. Video also shows a young Kim playing the tambourine when he attended school in Switzerland.
But he grew to become a ruthless ruler.
In 2013, he had his own uncle executed. One report said the man was "fed to starving dogs."

On Friday, President Donald Trump issued another warning for the North Korean leader.
"Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely," the president tweeted Friday morning. "Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!"
