Mother Dies While Trying to Save Son While Tubing in Creek
The Colorado mother tried to save the boy when his tube capsized last month.
A Colorado woman died Sunday while attempting to save the life of her son.
According to local reports, Amber Raye Presson jumped into the water when her son's tube capsized in Clear Creek in Golden shortly after shoving off.
While the 31-year-old was briefly able to save the screaming 11-year-old boy, the current soon took her back underwater.
“It appears she literally tried to rescue her kid," Capt. Joe Harvey of the Golden Police Department told The Denver Post. "They were both sucked under."
Golden Police said they believe the woman struck her head on a rock and was likely knocked unconscious, The Denver Channel reported.
Bystanders were able to pull the mother and son out of the water after hearing the boy's screams.
Paramedics later arrived and CPR was administered, but the mother was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy was unharmed and is in custody of family members.
