"I'd hold you in my arms tonight just like we used to do, and I could leave this world a happy girl forever loving you," sings in her new song, "Forever Loving You."

Once known as the wild child of country music, Tucker shot to fame at the tender age of 13 with her huge hit "Delta Dawn."

She was in her early 20's when she started dating Campbell, who was 22 years her senior. Their love affair played out like a soap opera and was loaded with volatility, which led to a messy breakup.

“We had some bad times, he'd lived 44 years and I was just 22," she told Inside Edition. "But I only remember the really good times. If anything was a problem for us, it was the jealousy thing. I think at times he didn't trust me as much as he could have or should have.”

Tucker was hit hard by the “Rhinestone Cowboy” singer’s death two weeks ago, following his long battle with Alzheimer’s. In his final days, he was unable to remember the words to his classic songs.

“You're never prepared for it,” she said of his death. “All those years came rushing back like I never missed a year. I really was hoping I’d be able to say one last goodbye to him and I wasn't able to do that.”

Tucker has released "Forever Loving You," with all proceeds benefiting Alzheimer’s research.

“I never stopped loving him,” she told Inside Edition. “The love was the strongest love in the world; it was like a Bogie/Bacall type of thing.”
