Anthony Weiner Apologizes
Congressman Anthony Weiner broke down as he apologized for sending an inappropriate photo over Twitter. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
"To be clear, I haven't told the truth. And I've done things that I deeply regret..."
It was a bombshell admission from embattled Congressman Anthony Weiner, as he broke down in tears at a shocking press conference Monday.
"I am deeply ashamed of my terrible judgment and actions," he said.
The confession comes on the heels of the publication of a shirtless photo of the married liberal New York Democrat, which he'd e-mailed to a woman he met online.
He was already facing an uproar over a raunchy shot showing him in boxer briefs. Again and again, Weiner had claimed his Twitter account had been hacked, denying that he'd sent the photo to a college coed in Seattle.
Now he's acknowledging it was all a lie.
He admitted, "The picture was of me, and I sent it."
Weiner admitted that he has sent raunchy photos and messages to six women over the last three years. One of the women, a 26-year-old single mom from Texas, told ABC News that they traded steamy photos.
Despite the uproar, Weiner says he's not resigning.
"I'm going to go back to work and convince them that this was an aberration."
His wife, Huma Abedin, a senior aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was pointedly not by his side, but Weiner says they aren't splitting up.
The married congressman with the secret online life has been exposed in a dramatic fashion.
