President Trump Rescinds Stephen Curry's Invitation to White House
The star player expressed that he did not want to go.
President Trump rescinded Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry’s invitation to the White House after the star player said he doesn’t want to go.
Curry, a two-time NBA MVP, said Friday that he would vote against the team visiting Trump’s White House to celebrate the team’s 2017 championship.
"I don't want to go ... my beliefs stay the same,” Curry told reporters Friday. “Not going to the White House would send a message, that we don’t stand for basically what our president has — the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said at the right times — that we won’t stand for it.”
Trump tweeted in response to the statement on Saturday.
“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!” Trump tweeted Saturday morning.

It was not immediately clear if Trump was rescinding the offer for the entire team.
Trump’s statement comes on the heels of him voicing his opinion on national anthem protests by NFL players during games.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say: ‘Get that son of a b—- off the field right now, out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’ ” Trump said on Friday during a speech in Alabama.
