Andrew Koenig's celebrity friends are bidding a final farewell to the Growing Pains star today, after he was found dead in a Vancouver park
William Shatner, who stared with Koenig's father on the original Star Trek series, tweeted, "My deepest sympathies to Andrew Koenig's family. I will grieve with them."
And Andrew's friend, Kirk Cameron, who stared with him on Growing Pains, wrote, "It is with great sorrow to hear about the final outcome of the search for my old friend Andrew. My prayers will continue to be with Andrew's family."
Walter Koenig said, "My son took his own life."
Walter Koenig, famous for his role as Mr. Chekov, held a heartbreaking press conference, thanking the volunteers who helped him look for his son inside Stanley park. The park was the last place 41-year-old Andrew was seen alive. The search ended when his body was found in a wooded area . Andrew had suffered from depression.
Koenig looked broken as he struggled to get through the press conference, saying, "I have already said what a great guy he was, and good human being. He was obviously in a lot of pain."
