The Most Shocking Verdicts of All Time

The Casey Anthony trial is the latest high-profile case to end in a surprising verdict of not guilty. INSIDE EDITION reports on some other cases that have gone down in history.
While the verdict in the Casey Anthony case certainly stunned many seasoned courtroom observers, it's not the first time a jury's returned an unexpected verdict.
In one of the most controversial trials of all time, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1995.
Like the Casey Anthony trial, the verdict left jaws dropping around the world.
INSIDE EDITION spoke with Judge Larry Seidlin, who presided over the trial in the death of Anna Nicole Smith.
"It does seems that when there is a famous defendant on trial, that the prosecution has a pretty hard time sometimes getting a conviction," said INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent.
"No, I don't agree with it. I think when the media is watching a case, when a case is media-driven, there's more burden, it's more difficult, for the defendant to get a fair trial," Seidlin said.
In 2005, the masses were shocked when Michael Jackson was found not guilty of child molestation. During that circus of a trial, Jackson exhibited some bizarre behavior, like wearing pajamas to court and dancing on top of his SUV.
"In Michael Jackson's case, I felt justice was served. I thought Jackson was not guilty of that child molestation," Seidlin said.
And who could forget the shocking not guilty verdict of actor Robert Blake?
Like Casey Anthony, the case against Blake seemed open and shut. Yet he was acquitted of murdering his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakely, who was shot in the head after having dinner at a restaurant with Blake.
Now, Casey Anthony joins the ranks of America's most shocking verdicts of all time.
