Casey Anthony's Freedom Sparks Safety Concerns
As Casey Anthony is released from jail this weekend, some are speculating that she will have to go into hiding or change her identity with plastic surgery in order to remain safe from those who think she’s guilty. INSIDE EDITION reports.
It was a chaotic scene when Casey Anthony was briefly released from jail in August 2008. Authorities are determined to avoid even worse turmoil when she is freed from the Orange County Jail in Florida this Sunday.
Tension is mounting across America amid the countdown to her release.
Mike DeForest from WKMG in Orlando told INSIDE EDITION, "Jail officials want to get her out of this facility as quickly and easily as possible. That's why they're not releasing a lot of details of exactly when or how she's going to be leaving."
Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez was seen visiting her in jail to discuss the plans for her release.
But sheriff Jerry Demings says she won't be getting any special protection from his deputies.
"We are not going to be her personal security," said Demings.
Anthony's attorneys are calling her "emotionally and mentally exhausted" by the trial. They are seeking to postpone her deposition in the "Zanny the nanny" civil suit, brought by the woman who says she was falsely identified by Anthony as a kidnapper.
Zenaida Gonzalez's attorneys want Anthony compelled to give the deposition on Tuesday.
Just how angry are people by Anthony's release? A woman named Sammay Blackwell was attacked just for looking a little like Casey Anthony. Police say her car was rammed on a highway near Tulsa by Shireen Nalley, who thought she was Casey Anthony.
Blackwell told reporters, "She said that I was trying to hurt babies, that I was killing babies and she was going to put a stop to it before it happened again."
Incredibly, Sammay Blackwell does have something in common with Anthony: her daughter is also named Caylee. That's just a sample of what Anthony may face on the outside.
"You never know what people can do. This is a highly charged atmosphere. There is a lot of concern that Casey Anthony could have a big target on her back once she walks out of jail."
