Inside TV's Biggest Night at the Emmy Awards

INSIDE EDITION caught up with the stars before and after the awards were handed out on TV’s biggest night at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Holmes, Sofia Vergara, and Kate Winslet—Hollywood's hottest moms were out in force.
Rob Lowe made it a family affair, bringing his handsome teenaged sons. INSIDE EDITION's Deborah Norville caught up with Lowe.
"All of a sudden daddy's cool because he got them in somewhere good," joked Norville.
"Yeah, I'm out of their doghouse now for maybe a couple of weeks," said Lowe.
Mad Men's John Slattery also brought his son.
The stars were scorching hot, with temperatures soaring. The gorgeous young stars of the new Charlie's Angels series didn't go anywhere without their hand-held fans.
NCIS: Los Angeles's LL Cool J told INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret, "I am actually on fire right now. I can't even lie to you. The back of my neck feels like they're cooking bacon on it or something. It's unbelievably hot out here."
Moret caught up with Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet and asked, "Are you sorry you're wearing black on a day like today?"
"Well, I don't really have another choice. I don't think I could rock a white suit. I'd look like the Staypuff Marshmallow Man or something," said Stonestreet.
Jane Lynch opened the show with a skit with Leonard Nimoy, who was a last-minute replacement for Alec Baldwin. Baldwin had filmed the skit but he asked that it be cut entirely from the telecast when one of his jokes was edited out. The joke dealt with the phone hacking scandal involving Rupert Murdoch's empire.
Baldwin tweeted: "Fox did kill my...hacking joke...I think it would have made them look better. A little."
Fox issued a statement saying the joke was cut because it did not wish to make light of the hacking scandal.
Baldwin went on Good Day LA to explain his position.
"They decided to cut the joke about Newscorp, so I said to them, 'Just cut the whole segment out of the show and take me out of the show' which they did and that was fine, but I did not boycott the Emmys because of that," said Baldwin.
It was a golden night for the cast of Modern Family.
On the red carpet cast member Ariel Winter told INSIDE EDITION. "It's insane. We just feel so blessed."
13-year-old cast member Rico Rodriguez got a high-five from CSI: Miami's Eva La Rue. Norville said to Rodriguez, "You've got gorgeous women greeting you and high-fiving you."
"Ah, you get used to it," joked Rodriguez.
Steve Carell was nominated for The Office for the sixth time, and his co-stars were pulling for him.
Angela Kinsey told INSIDE EDITION, "We were so sad, as you can tell from the final episodes. There wasn't a dry eye."
Leslie David Baker told Norville, "We'll miss him and we're hoping he'll win this year."
But Carell lost to The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons.
Lady Luck was smiling on The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies. She took home the trophy for Best Actress in a drama.
In her acceptance speech, Margulies said, "To my spectacular husband, I love being your good wife and I'm so grateful you have no political aspirations."
There was celebrity gridlock everywhere. Someone stepped on Diane Lane's train of her dress. Kathy Griffin had a similar run-in. Glee's Dianna Agron tried to protect her train by having a publicist hold it up.
Paula Abdul told us she's pumped for the premiere of her new show, The X-Factor, with Simon Cowell.
"Simon, call our relationship whatever you want, he's a man of his word. He wanted to work with me and I kind of put it out in the universe if it's meant to be," said Abdul.
Norville caught up with Jimmy Fallon. Last year, they happened to be on the same flight to Los Angeles.
"I missed you on the flight out this year," said Fallon.
"I was looking for you but you weren't there," said Norville.
Fallon said, "I had a nightmare flight coming out here by the way. Some drunk obnoxious guy was sitting...I got First Class, which was great. I'm not complaining about that. The guy sitting next to me took off his shoes and his socks. That should be rule, right? I'd rather you smoke on the plane."
On stage, he had a mock fight with late night rival Jimmy Kimmel.
The stars on the red carpet were buzzing about the lineup for the new season of Dancing with the Stars.
Norville said to Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke, "There's so much hype about the casting with Chaz Bono coming in as the first transgendered person."
"I'm really excited to have him on our cast, and I admire him. I think he's super brave," said Burke.
Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba said, "I think he's a really warm person. And I've noticed that in seasons past, your personality sort of, the audience gets behind you if they like you, and I think he's going to do well."
Even the stars get a thrill from Emmy night.
Betty White told Norville, "For an old broad who's going to be 90 in January, it's marvelous to still be in the mix."
Kathy Griffin joked with Norville, "I am so excited to be here, to look at celebrities, to judge them unfairly."
Conan the Barbarian, Jason Momoa, could hardly contain himself.
"I'm kind of in shock!" said Momoa. He was there with his wife, The Cosby Show's Lisa Bonet.
Katie Holmes was running late, rushing in a few minutes after the show started.
This year's host was Glee's Jane Lynch, and her castmates were definitely rooting for her. Stars on hand gave Lynch high marks for her performance which at times had some bite to it, including her introduction for the Entourage cast.
Lynch introduced them with this line: "A lot of people are very curious why I'm a lesbian. Ladies and gentlemen, the cast of Entourage."
Charlie Sheen took center stage, his first Emmy appearance since his infamous meltdown. And he sent a gracious message to the cast and crew of Two and a Half Men.
"From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season," said Sheen.
Backstage, for the first time, Sheen came face-to-face with his replacement, Ashton Kutcher. Sheen tweeted: "Giving the new kid a little advice..!"
But word is that Kutcher found the whole encounter extremely awkward. It certainly looked that way in a backstage photo.
Tina Fey, just five weeks after giving birth, joined the other stars nominated for Best Actress in a comedy for a hilarious spoof of a beauty pageant. Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy took the crown.
"Wow! This is my first and best pageant, ever," said McCarthy in her acceptance speech.
INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret caught up with McCarthy backstage at the Nokia Theatre.
"The moment when you were on stage, you had all of your fellow nominees up there, and then they treated you like a queen," said Moret.
"I did not see that coming in about eight billion years," said McCarthy.
The winner of Best Supporting Actress in a drama, Justified's Margo Martindale, stumbled. Gentlemen in the crowd, including Modern Family's Ed O'Neill and Mad Men's Jon Hamm, leapt up to help her. But it was Ashton Kutcher who got to her first.
Backstage Moret asked, "Did you lose your footing as you went up the stairs?"
"I did. I crawled up the stairs. I'm not embarrassed," said Martindale.
Moret spoke to Jim Parsons, who was still shocked that he got his award from none other than Charlie Sheen.
"I don't know. I kept waiting. I thought, he's going to do a bit. And then the comedy never came, and then he was announcing the award, so I never felt like I got a good grip on what was going on," said Parsons.
Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell also stopped by to talk to Moret.
"It's kind of amazing but we were just saying, you still go to work and you still have to find how to make the scenes work every day. We're just lucky to have each other," said Bowen.
Hollywood partied well into the night. At the Governors Ball, Jane Lynch looked like she was still having a great time.
