The case of missing Utah mom Susan Powell takes yet another turn as Steven Powell's own daughter says she was relieved he was arrested on child pornography charges. INSIDE EDITION speaks to Powell's daughter.
He's the creepy father-in-law of missing Utah mom Susan Powell. Now his own daughter is turning on him.
Prosecutors say 61-year-old Steven Powell was so obsessed with his daughter-in-law he secretly videotaped her private moments. He was arrested late last week and charged with possessing child pornography and voyeurism. He pled not guilty.
His secret cache of porn is no surprise to his daughter Jennifer. INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander spoke with Jennifer.
"When I heard the news that my dad was arrested, I was actually relieved. He has a really big problem. He's been fantasizing for quite some time. He's always been into porn as long as I can remember. It's the very reason why I didn't want my children to be around him and exposed," said Jennifer.
Now Jennifer is siding with Susan Powell's family against her own flesh and blood. She's helping them get custody of the missing woman's two sons, aged four and six.
Jennifer told Alexander, "The kids are absolutely better off being out of that house. I am so relieved that they are in a safe place."
Susan Powell's husband, Josh, remains the only person of interest in her disappearance. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Susan's parents say they were stunned by Steve Powell's arrest, and by revelations of his bizarre obsession with Susan.
Alexander asked, "Did your daughter ever mention to you her concerns about her father-in-law?"
"Yes, she did. She told Josh about her concerns and his response was that she was over-reacting, she didn't understand his dad and he basically brushed her off," said Susan's father.
Now Jennifer wonders whether her father's secret life is somehow connected with Susan's mysterious disappearance.
"She did not like being around him," said Jennifer.
