Marie and Donny Osmond Continue to Perform
Marie Osmond returned to the Las Vegas stage the day after she buried her son, who committed suicide. INSIDE EDITION has the details on how the star is coping.
One day after Marie Osmond buried her 18-year-old son Michael, she made a heartfelt return to the stage at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas with her brother Donny.
"The way Osmonds survive is we keep singing. And that's what we want to do tonight. And I know my son would want that," Marie said.
At the sold-out show, Marie was visibly moved by the crowd, who gave her three standing ovations. Just 24 hours earlier, Marie was in Utah with the whole Osmond family as her son Michael was laid to rest following his suicide. On stage, Marie bravely performed, often wiping away tears.
INSIDE EDITION producer Esmeralda Servin was in the front row.
"I could see the tears in Marie's eyes as she struggled to get through her performance. The emotion was pouring from her heart. It was as if she was singing solely for her son Michael," says Servin.
Marie said her 7-year-old daughter gave her some good advice to get through the performance. She then told a joke her daughter told her to tell.
Though grieving, Marie was somehow able to put on a great performance.
On The View, Barbara Walters defended Marie's choice to return to the stage so soon after the funeral.
"My first thought was, 'The funeral was the day before and she went on stage and how could she do that?' But you go on. And Marie did." Walters said.
As Marie and Donny ended their show, they held each other in a long embrace. A tender reminder that the brother and sister have shared the spotlight in good times and now they share that same spotlight through unimaginable grief.
