Kim Kardashian speaks out for the first time about her divorce that has everyone asking if the whole wedding was a sham. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
Kim Kardashian defends her name, and her reputation. Kim gave her first interview since the shocking announcement that she was ending her 72-day marriage, speaking to a radio show in Sydney, Australia.
"There's just no easy way to go through something like this. I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that. And I think that's really ridiculous that I have to defend something like that," said Kim.
Kardashian chaos followed Kim half-way around the world where she was absolutely mobbed at the airport in Sydney.
She also hit the red carpet Down Under with sister Khloe at a promotional event pushing the Kardashian line of handbags. And she just looked bummed out.
The cover of the latest People magazine has the question everyone's asking: "Was it a mistake or fake?"
Kate Coyne of People magazine told INSIDE EDITION, "There are just as many people who feel like this will lead to a massive backlash against the Kardashian family. That they seem completely out of touch with reality. That they manipulated things to suit their own storyline purposes, and that nothing about them is authentic."
An INSIDE EDITION online poll had a whopping 86 percent calling her $20 million marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries a sham from the get-go.
New York Daily News columnist Joanna Malloy is even calling for a boycott of all Kardashian products, writing, "We have the power to make this money-grubbing airhead go away."
On late night TV, the whole divorce mess continues to generate lots of ridicule.
On the Late Show with David Letterman, Letterman said, "She's getting a divorce after 72 days. He's being replaced by Ashton Kutcher."
Kim's mom, Kris Jenner, is said to be the brains behind the family's billion-dollar empire. She was in New York today promoting her new book, but she also got emotional as she came to the defense of her daughter.
On The View today, Jenner said, "It's tough. I didn't mean to go to the emotional place, but it's a tough time for the family and for Kim and for eveybody involved. It's really hard to go through this on such a public stage."
Jenner insisted the couple did not profit from the wedding.
"When it was all said and done, Kim had to pay a lot of money to make up for the, you know, the money that she made went to the wedding. She still owed money to make her fairy tale dream come true. She wouldn't have done that if that was a scam," said Jenner.
Meanwhile, the Kardashians are on the attack, laying the blame for the breakup squarely on the broad shoulders of the 6' 9" Kris Humphies. They say his down-to-earth parents, William and Deborah from Minnesota, never liked the high-profile Kardashian clan.
And there is an edgy moment between Kris and Kim in the upcoming season of Kourtney and Kim Take New York where Kim asks, "How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota?"
Kris says, "Baby, by the time you have kids and they're in school, no one will probably care about you."
