Is It Possible That Whitney Houston Drowned?
Did Whitney Houston drown in her hotel bathub? INSIDE EDITION has the latest on the sudden death of the pop legend.
It's a growing mystery - did Whitney Houston drown in her hotel bathtub?
She was found in the tub with her face under water, not breathing, no pulse. The bodyguard who was the first to administer CPR said, "She was already dead. There was nothing I could do."
The emergency steps that would have been taken to revive Houston were demonstrated to INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander by CPR trainer Stephanie Duehring.
"You need to move the victim to a hard, flat surface," said Duehring.
She would have been placed on her back on the bathroom floor and the bodyguard most likely started chest compressions to try to get her breathing.
Duehring said, "Tilt head back, pinch nose shut. Give one breath then a second breath."
Did Houston drown? Or was she already dead from an overdose of prescription drugs before she slipped under the water?
Alexander spoke to famed forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht about the drowning speculation. Alexander asked if it is possible to drown in a bathtub.
"Under most circumstances , no," Wecht said, "I predict that this will be an accidental case of acute, combined drug toxicity, not drowning."
Toxicology reports won't be released for several weeks. Meanwhile, the world is reeling from the shock that one of our greatest stars could be found dead in her hotel bathtub.
