Michelle Obama Makes Debut on Late Show with David Letterman

First Lady Michelle Obama stepped out in New York, appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman for the first time. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
The First Lady made her first appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman as she kicked off an election-year charm offensive.
And leave it to Dave to poke fun at her special cause for children, the Let's Move campaign to fight childhood obesity.
"There's another circumstance which is near and dear to my heart...it's the notion of fat kids," joked Letterman.
But Michelle took it all in stride and gushed about the First Dog, Bo.
"He is my son. I have two girls and a boy," said Michelle.
Michelle also opened up about her famous trip she made to a Target store, where she was hoping to go unrecognized.
Michelle said, "The woman actually walked up to me, I was in the detergent aisle, and she said, I kid you not, she said, 'Excuse me, I just have to ask you something,' and I thought, my cover's blown, and she said, 'Can you reach on that shelf and hand me that detergent?' "
It was a whirlwind day for the First Lady in New York City. She changed into slacks for a fundraiser at Chelsea Piers where she bowled for just one frame. Apparently she's not much better than her husband was during the 2008 campaign when he bowled a 37.
Michelle also went on to a star-studded fundraiser, hosted by Robert De Niro. Now the actor's comments at the event are sparking controversy.
"Callista Gingrich. Karen Satorum. Ann Romney," he said, listing the wives of the Republican presidential candidates. "Now do you really think our country is ready for a white First Lady? Too soon, right?"
Newt Gingrich blasted De Niro today.
"I think that Robert De Niro is wrong. I think the country is ready for a new First Lady, and he doesn't have to describe it in racial terms," said Gingrich.
And the White House is actually agreeing with Gingrich.
"We believe the joke was inappropriate," Michelle's campaign press secretary said in a statement.
Beyoncé was also in attendance at the fundraiser with a flat tummy just two months after having a baby.
