Christie Brinkley's Ex-Husband, Peter Cook Speaks Exclusively to INSIDE EDITION
As the ongoing battle between bitter ex's Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook wages on, Cook speaks exclusively to INSIDE EDITION about his side of the story.
Christie Brinkley broke down in tears on the Today show on Tuesday talking about her bitter and never-ending divorce battle with ex-husband, Peter Cook.
"I just want peace for my family. Sorry, but I just want peace and every time I have any joy or any kind of success in anything, he has to try to destroy it," said Brinkley.
The still stunning 58-year-old supermodel, wore a figure-hugging beige dress, told Matt Lauer that Cook is trying to destroy her reputation.
Brinkley said, "Since the day that he realized that I wasn't coming back, there has been a real character assassination going on."
Lauer mentioned to Brinkley, "He says he pays double what the court asks him to pay."
Brinkley responded, "He pays $600 a month, per child, that's it. It's really, I can't think of the word's it's too early, but it's a very minimal amount of money."
Meanwhile, Cook sat down exclusively with INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd and denounced Brinkley's claims that he's a deadbeat dad.
Cook said, "I'm being attacked and I have to defend myself."
Boyd said to Cook, "She says you owe her money and you're a deadbeat dad."
Cook said, "I am not a deadbeat dad. That is a terribly untrue thing to say. I can tell you as we sit here, I am paid up 100% on monies that I owed her per our agreement."
Brinkley is promoting her return to the musical Chicago, but the Today show interview focused entirely on her divorce.
Lauer said to Brinkley, "He says the reason all this is coming up now is that you want to promote your role on Broadway."
Brinkley responded, "Matt, isn't that silly? It's the longest running show on Broadway. They've managed pretty well without using the Peter Cook press machine."
Cook expressed anger at the interview, and in a follow-up communication with INSIDE EDITION accused Brinkley of shedding, "Crocodile tears."
"Don't play that game. You are an egotistical narcissist, meaning she is an egotist because she is only thinking of herself," Cook said.
He had these parting thoughts when Boyd asked him, "Why do you think she is filing this lawsuit now?"
"Publicity, harassment, revenge," said Cook.
